Tip-off leads to arrest

Johannesburg K9 Unit members nab 32-year-old man for the possession of drugs in Primrose.

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by members of the Johannesburg K9 Unit in Turnhout Avenue, in Primrose.

The man was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, after patrolling officers received a tip-off from a member of the community.

“A concerned community member told police that a man was allegedly selling dagga in Turnhout Avenue.

“When they arrived at the address given they found a man who fitted the description given by the informant,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The man was searched, and the officers found four small zip-lock bags containing dagga hidden in his underwear.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was formally charged.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
