Coral Street shooting leaves one dead and two injured

Primrose police are currently investigating a shooting in Coral Street, which left one intruder dead and two injured.

The Primrose police have opened several different cases after an attempted house robbery and shooting in Coral Street, in Woodmere, which left one man dead and two more wounded, last Thursday.

“It is reported that four men, aged between 20 and 40 years old, used an Audi A4 to ram open the property’s gate,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer for the Primrose police.

It is alleged that three of the four men entered the house while one remained in the vehicle.

“Seeing that two of the men were armed, the home’s owner, who was inside, took out his own firearm and fired at the intruders.

“All three suspects were wounded during the shooting,” explained Maome.

One of the men died on-scene, after suffering three fatal wounds to the upper body, while a second man was taken to Tembisa Hospital, under police guard, with seven bullet wounds.

“The third suspect was able to escape after the man waiting in the vehicle dragged him into the car and sped away,” Maome said.

One of the firearms seized after an attempted house robbery in Coral Street, in Woodmere, where one man was killed and two men were injured.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene.

“When paramedics arrived on the scene they found one man lying in the road while another lay in the driveway,” said Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokesman.

“Paramedics assessed the men and found that one had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life. He was declared dead on-scene.

“The second man was assessed and found to be in a critical condition.”

Paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the man was transported to hospital for further medical care.

A case of possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition, and attempted house robbery have been opened against the suspects, while an inquest docket has been opened into the man’s death.

A further case of attempted murder was opened against the home’s owner.

“The wounded suspect has already been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, and attempted house robbery and will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court when he is able to,” said Maome.

Police are still searching for the two men who fled the scene.
