Two people were shot during a cash-in-transit heist on the corner of Spilsbury and Meyer streets, in Germiston, on Monday morning.
“Two armed suspects, driving a Toyota Rav 4, approached one of the cash-in-transit security guards,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.
“One of the suspects pointed a gun at the security guards and took a bag of money from them.”
Raphulu said the suspects fired a number of shots, which injured two bystanders, before fleeing the scene.
“One person was shot in the leg and the other in the chest. Both were taken to hospital.
“The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money.”
The matter is under police investigation.
