Germiston hammered by Benoni

Germiston City Football Club’s two teams played against Benoni Northerns Football Club.

Germiston City Football Club’s first team faced Benoni Northerns Football Club during their fixture played at the Germiston City Sports Club, last Saturday.

Germiston came into the game searching for their first points of the season but Benoni claimed the match and won 5-0.

It was the start of a sad afternoon for Germiston when Benoni got a free kick and scored just three minutes into the game.

Shortly afterwards Germiston were two down with the defence not dealing with a Benoni corner and leaving the goalpost exposed.

The local team enjoyed a good spell for about 10 minutes but couldn’t secure a goal.

Another corner kick from Benoni extended their lead.

Germiston was awarded a penalty but Paizo Muso tipped it over the bar allowing Benoni to go into half-time three goals up.

The local side looked much better in the second half but the three goals left a huge mountain to climb.

Germiston had their chances but couldn’t capitalise on them and they were punished with two more goals granting Benoni a 5-0 victory.

The reserve side lost 6-1 to Benoni’s reserves.
