A win and loss in Super League for Luso

Luso Africa FC’s senior side struggle to find their footing in the Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League.

Luso Africa FC continued their Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super League campaign on Saturday with an away match.

The club’s senior and reserve teams travelled to Huntersfield Stadium to take on Zwide Football Club.

The club’s reserve team remains unbeaten in the league with a 2-0 win.

The team dominated the game from start to finish and never looked like they were going to give anything away with another strong defensive display, the match’s goals were scored by Marco Da Graca and Michael Lume.

However, the club’s first team was not as successful, suffering their second loss in the league, losing 3-1 to the home side.

Despite having several chances to score, the team struggled to take advantage of these chances and found themselves 2-0 down at half-time.

Luso’s defensive efforts fumbled in the second half and Zwide took advantage of this by scoring yet another goal.

The team tried to claw their way back, but it wasn’t to be, even with Yannick Beyouma scoring a consolation goal late on.

The team will host Kempton Park Football Club, in their next league fixture, on Saturday at Hattingh Park.

The coaching staff have dubbed this game a must-win for the first team to have a shot at the league title this season.

Other results:

  • On Wednesday, Luso’s first division veterans beat Kempton Park FC 4-1 in the second leg of the semi- finals of the cup, this win means they are able to progress to the final of the cup.
  • Luso’s SAB team beat Black Pirates FC 6-1 in their match on Thursday and drew 1-1 with Dolphin FC on Sunday.

This brings their unbeaten run to 22 games.

  • The women’s league came to an end this week with Luso’s B team finishing second and the A team third on the log.
