Germiston trumped by Olympia

Germiston City Football Club disappoint in their Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League away match over the weekend.

After a disappointing start to the Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League, last weekend, Germiston City Football Club was determined to turn things around.

This, however, was not to be as they suffered a major 6-0 loss in their away match against Olympia Italian Football Club, on Saturday afternoon.

Germiston went into the match on shaky ground with their key defence players, captain Comfort Molebela, who is suspended, and DK Kgare, who is out because of injury.

The Bedfordview-based team seemed to take advantage of this and kept Germiston at a disadvantage from the beginning, scoring their first goal five minutes into the first half.

After this, Olympia quickly found their stride and scored yet another goal before the end of the first half.

Though Germiston fought back hard in the second half it wasn’t to be with their rivals scoring another four goals in the second half, ending the match 6-0.

Germiston’s reserve side suffered a similar fate, going down 2-0 to their Olympia counter-parts.

The club hopes for a better result this weekend, as they wait to see who they will face after a reshuffle in the ELFA fixture list.

This reshuffle is a result of Edenvale Football Club pulling out of the league.
