Metro calls for comment on establishment of development agency

Have your voice heard on the establishment of the Ekurhuleni Development Agency.

Residents, community members and organisations have the chance to comment on the metro’s intention to establish a new municipal entity – the Ekurhuleni Development Agency (EDA).

This proposal was approved by council in March, 2015 (Item-CORP-2014).

The strategic objectives of the EDA include branding and international promotion; investment attraction and retention; real estate, urban realm and infrastructure development and partnership facilitation, planning and visioning.

All comments or representations must be submitted to the chief risk officer, Musawakhe Khumalo, on or before Tuesday, April 18, by 4pm.

Any person who cannot read or write may visit the office of the chief risk officer, where they will be assisted to transcribe the comments or representations.

The municipality has since concluded the feasibility study as provided for in Section 84 of the Municipal Financial Management Act (MFMA) and relevant provisions of the Municipal Systems Act (MSA), which was aimed at structuring the mandate, as well as defining the core focus areas for the agency to be specifically dedicated to drive and lead integrated development programmes in the metro.

The office of the chief risk officer is situated on the second floor at 5 Junction Road, Driehoek.

Operating hours are from 8am to 4pm.

For more information residents can call 011 999-1108 or e-mail to Jamie.Moodley@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
