Heated AGM yields results

Community members gathered at Primrose Hill Primary School for Primrose Sector Three CPF’s annual general meeting (AGM).

Tempers flared at Primrose Sector Three CPF’s annual general meeting (AGM) held at Primrose Hill Primary School on Wednesday.

The AGM was held for the election of a new committee after concerns were raised at a previous meeting, also held at Primrose Hill Primary School on January 24.

The Primrose SAPS station commander, Col Albertina Vesi, took the decision to hold an AGM to bring unity within the community.

“A lot of people raised their concerns, and in an effort to avoid the community being divided, I made the decision to have an AGM,” said Vesi.

Allegations were made that certain CPF members had violated the CPF’s constitutional laws and, therefore, a new committee had to be elected.

Wednesday’s meeting started with the former committee being dissolved, which gave way for the election of the new committee.

Chaos ensued as the community disapproved of certain individuals nominated for various positions.

While others contested the voting procedures, there were those who loudly made more allegations, which caused a lot of unrest within the meeting, and Vesi had to call the meeting to order on numerous occasions.

“Can we all please sit down and let us respect each other,” said Vesi at the meeting.

“We are not going to leave here without having elected a committee, so we are going to go on with the elections.”

The community heeded Vesi’s call for order and a new committee was soon elected.

The new committee members for Primrose Sector Three CPF are: Tracy Enslin (chairman), Margaret Motsoahae (vice chairman), Megan Grant (secretary), Anglique Kruger (deputy secretary) and Georgette Campbell (treasurer).

The committee’s additional members are: Bruce Warburton, Gregory Soares, Craig O’Farrell, Sabrizio Loddo, Andrew Boyley, Tamara Tavares and Khayalethu Makhwe.

The new committee is yet to hold its first meeting.
