Man nabbed for malicious damage to property

A 24-year-old man was arrested by the Katlehong police and charged with malicious damage to property.

A 24-year-old man was recently arrested by the Katlehong police for malicious damage to property.

The arrest was made at the Thusong informal settlement, after officers were called to the scene of the crime by the accused’s family.

“It is alleged that the suspect had come to his mother’s home and demanded food.

“She obliged and gave him a plate of food, but to his mother’s astonishment he allegedly threw the plate of food away and became violent,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

The man allegedly threatened to assault members of the family before damaging his mother’s home.

“Police are investigating why the man suddenly became violent and further charges may be brought against him at a later stage,” said Ndobe.

The accused will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of malicious damage to property.
