Athlete shines at inter-high

Young athlete puts his school on the map after he places first in six athletics events.

He is an overachiever when it comes to athletics.

Hoërskool Goudrif’s Pedro Aaron (18) has once again come out on top at the Germiston Inter-High athletics, which was held at Germiston Stadium, on Wednesday.

Aaron competed in six events and took first place in all.

“He competed in the 100m, 200m and 400m sprint heats; 110m and 400m hurdles and in the long jump,” said his coach, Stephanè Kotzè.

“In all the events, he competed in the u-19 age group.

“I am extremely proud of Aaron; he never ceases to amaze me.”

Kotzè added that the youngster set a new personal best in long jump.

“He jumped 7.30m to place first, which is impressive,” said Kotzè.

“Due to his outstanding results he was named the event’s victor ludorum.”

Pedro’s winning streak has never been brought to a halt since Grade Eight.

“Aaron has always taken part in the inter-high events and always manages to place first in all the events he takes part in,” explained Kotzè.

“He normally takes part in four to six events each year and excels.

“He is determined and focused and works very hard and that is evident in his performance.”

Kotzè also said that Aaron takes part in other athletics meetings and competitions outside of school and he also produces impressive results.
