Police nab man at car wash

Katlehong police receive tip-off from community about the sighting of an alleged stolen vehicle.

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by the Katlehong police for being in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Officers were alerted to the man’s whereabouts by a member of the community.

“The informant told police that the accused was at a local car wash with the allegedly stolen BMW,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

Officers rushed to the address where they found a man matching the description given, they then asked the driver for proof of ownership of the vehicle, which he did not have.

He was arrested and taken to the Katlehong Police Station.

“During the initial investigation it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Benoni, in November last year,” said Ndobe.

The man will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
