A win and a draw for Eagles

Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club weathers the storm during their second bout of Easterns Cricket League weekend fixtures.

The weekend’s weather played a large role in the outcome of the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club’s fixtures.

With the club’s Saturday Second League match cancelled, they turned their focus to the Promotion and Presidents leagues, both played on Sunday.

In the Promotion League, the Eagles faced Duduza Cricket Club, at the Scaw Main Oval, in Dinwiddie.

The home side batted first and were able to post a score of 129 runs, all out, in their 50 overs, despite the adverse batting conditions.

The day’s top batsman was Garreth Hann, with 28 runs,

The Eagles then took to the field and were able to get their visitors all out for only 58 runs, which meant a 71-run victory for the home side.

Garreth Hann was the club’s top bowler, claiming seven wickets for 28 runs in his 10 overs.

He was awarded the man of the match for his outstanding performance with both bat and ball.

In the Presidents League, the Eagles hosted Actonville Cricket Club at the Elsburg Sports Complex.

The visitors batted first and posted an impressive 205 runs, all out, in their 40 overs.

The Eagles prepared for the chase but only managed to get two overs into their allotted overs when the heavens opened and the game was called off.

This meant that the match was recorded as a draw, with both teams receiving points.

This Sunday, the club will host Actonville Cricket Club at the Scaw Main Oval, in Dinwiddie, for the Promotion League and Geluksdal Cricket Club in the Presidents League, at the Elsburg Sports Complex.
