Body of man found in the middle of the road

Elsburg SAPS appeal to the community for information regarding man’s death.

The Elsburg SAPS were recently summoned to the scene of a crime at 10.30pm where the body of a man was found lying in the middle of the road at the intersection between Brug and Voortrekker streets.

The man had sustained injuries to the back of his head.

Upon arrival the officers found two paramedics on the scene busy trying to resuscitate the victim.

However, this was not possible and he was declared dead on the scene.

From further enquiries the police established from members of the community, who were present on the scene, that the man had been part of a group of five men who were walking to a nearby garage to buy petrol for their vehicle, which had run out of fuel.

Along the way, the men suddenly went off in different directions.

The man is aged between 30 and 35, and has medium dreadlocks.

He was allegedly renting a place in Reiger Park and had the nickname ‘Rasta’.

His body was found by a passer-by and the cause of death is not known at this stage.

Police are appealing to the community to come forward with any information which could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators or assist with the investigation.

The Elsburg SAPS can be contacted on 011 827-2060.
