Juicy Tidbits – Back-to-work blues

Get back into the swing of things after your summer/festive season holiday.

This week many of us will be entering the second or even third week of work and already we miss the holidays.

The holidays are a time to escape from the mundane and explore new and exciting destinations (even if they are only in your own backyard).

I personally love that there is no morning rush when on holiday. You will be ready when you are ready, instead of the mad dash to leave the house on time to avoid traffic.

Here are what a few other people miss about the holidays:

  • Rudelle Oosthuysen said, “I miss two things: waking up without an alarm and forgetting what day of the week it is.”
  • Jade Wiehahn said, “I miss not knowing what time or day it is and not even being bothered by it.”
  • Michelle Jordaan said, “I miss the care-free life with less responsibilities.”
  • Dee Smith said, “I miss spending time with family.”

Here are a few ways to help you beat the back-to-work blues:

  • Having a hard week?

Arrange a treat for the weekend ahead. Knowing that you have something definite to look forward to will keep your spirits up during the transition back to a work-based routine.

  • When is your next holiday?

Decide the date of your next holiday. That way, instead of seeing work stretching ahead interminably, you will know that you’re back for a specific period.

  • Think healthy.

Take a healthy lunch in with you to work and a large bottle of water. If you don’t plan ahead, it’s all too easy to succumb to sugary, high-calorie snacks that will leave you feeling lethargic and unhappy. Sipping water will prevent you becoming dehydrated, so you will continue to think clearly.

How do you ease back into the work-day routine?
