Police officer shot in business robbery

Business robbers flee after shoot-out with police.

A police officer was shot in the head while responding to a business robbery at a BP garage, in the Twala Section of Katlehong North, early on Thursday morning.

The officer, Const Tshepo Tladi, was shot in the head as police tried to stop the fleeing suspects.

He was transported to Union Hospital, in Alberton, in a critical condition.

The alleged thieves were able to escape police and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

A case of business robbery and attempted murder was opened for investigation.

“No one was arrested during the incident, however police were able to seize the vehicle used by the suspects.

“The number of suspects involved in the crime hasn’t been confirmed at this stage,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.
