Special birthday donation for SPCA

Young woman gives SPCA a much-needed donation.

Her mother always told her that she should start off her birthday, by helping someone who needs it more.

So, Robyn Smith from Denlee celebrated her 22nd birthday on December 19 last year, by donating dog food to the Germiston SPCA.

The beautiful young woman donated a total of 16 25kg bags of dog food, in order to help the SPCA feed the animals over the festive period.

She raised the money by making bracelets and selling these to friends and family, in the Germiston area.

“I was lucky that two of my friends, Tanya-Leigh Cox and Cindy Treges, donated beads to me to make the bracelets – so I had no overhead costs and all the money raised from the bracelets, could go directly to buying dog food,” Robyn said.

“In total, I managed to raise R3 000.

“I was overwhelmed by the support I received for my initiative.”

This isn’t the first time Robyn has helped others on her birthday.

She made party packs which were distributed to children in a township, the previous year; and she plans to continue this helping tradition on an annual basis.
