St Catherine’s class of 2016 celebrates

St Catherine’s School celebrate a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2016 IEB matric examinations.

The IEB matric results were released at midnight, last Friday.

Many private school leavers waited in anticipation to find out if they had passed the year and products of Parkhill Gardens’ St Catherine’s School, were no exception.

“We are so proud to announce that the matric class of 2016 continued our tradition and achieved a 100 per cent pass rate,” Joanne Crosby, principal of St Catherine’s School, said proudly.

The matric group numbered 23, 18 of whom achieved degree certification.

The remaining five students received a diploma certification.

The school celebrated 15 distinctions in total.

The top three achievers were:

  • Angelique de Abreu, who attained three distinctions – maths literacy (95 per cent), CAT (80 per cent) and life orientation (81 per cent), with an overall average of 74.7 per cent.

“Our success doesn’t lie in the number of distinctions achieved, but rather what the teachers have accomplished with pupils who’ve battled their way through high school.

“These children all achieved diploma passes through the day-by-day nurturing of the staff,” Crosby said.

Crosby is confident that the knowledge, ethical values and life skills that the school has imparted to the ‘Class of 2016’, will stand them in good stead for whatever the future has in store for them.

“We wish them every success in the next chapter of their lives,” she said.

She further thanked the board for their on-going support and encouragement; the teachers for their dedication and the parents, who entrusted their children in the school’s care.
