A 37-year-old man from the Marathon informal settlement was recently arrested by the Primrose police for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend.
It’s reported that the accused visited the woman with his new girlfriend, an argument ensued and the man allegedly assaulted the former girlfriend.
“The victim claimed that the suspect punched her, as well as hit her with a hammer,” said the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
The woman sustained serious injuries to the head and needed medical attention.
Officers were able to trace the man and he was arrested.
He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s court, where the case was postponed.
