Residents fed-up with lack of refuse collection

Refuse in Germiston has not been collected for about two weeks.

Residents in the city are tired of seeing their refuse bags piling up on the streets.

Refuse has not been collected for about two weeks and although residents have contacted the metro to find out what the problem was they were left with no satisfactory answers.

Following numerous requests by the GCN for comment from the metro, this response was finally received from Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro: “There have been contributing issues that have had an effect on the service in Germiston, namely labour unrest and SAMWU general meetings.

“Waste management services sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused and anticipates that all backlogs will be cleared by the end of the week.”
