Youngsters help the needy

Grade 11 learners are doing their bit for the community.

Sixteen Grade 11 learners from Graceland Education Centre visited Lambano Sanctuary in Wychwood, last Tuesday.

This was a first of its kind initiative to take place at the school.

The team, which goes by the name Graceland At Your Service, received various donations from their parents and teachers, as well as Tiger Brands and enjoyed visiting the children to hand over the donations.

“The team decided to embark on such an initiative because they believe in the word of God and know that it has the capability to restore that which the enemy has stolen, which is education,” said Samkeliso Khoza, on behalf of the group.

“This is clearly shown by the bunking of classes, absenteeism, smoking and teenage pregnancy amongst learners.

“This project will keep the learners occupied, thus avoiding all the problems mentioned.”

The team wants to help the needy and with Christmas coming they would love to go back to the orphanage before school closes to give the children Christmas gifts.

They are appealing to the community to help them do this.

Contact the school on 011 893-1603 urgently if you can assist.

The Graceland At Your Service team consists of: Zoliswa Fepane, Buhlebezwe Gama, Samkeliso Khoza, Jennifer Kok, Blessed Mbaso, Nonhlanhla Mabuza, Themba Maphosa, Zanele Mashiyane, Nthabiseng Mbatha, Andile Mhlongo, Fikile Mnguni, Dineo Molefe, Michelle Molepo, Precious Ntodi, Sthembile Ndlovu and Nyasha Sithole.
