Family desperate to find Toboe

If you have spotted this dog help reunite him with his owners.

They lost everything but all Michael Bowen and Chantal Levings care about is finding their beloved dog Toboe, a white English bull terrier.

The couple, who live in Eastleigh in Edenvale, have been desperately searching for Toboe since he was swept away in the flash floods on November 9.

There have been reports that Toboe has been sighted in the Klopper Park area and Germiston residents are urged to keep an eye out for him.

Michael told the GCN that he rushed home that day after being notified by his landlord that there was trouble at their home due to the storm.

“It was the longest drive of my life and all I could think about was Toboe and hoped he was okay,” Michael said.

“When I reached home my heart sank and what I saw I will haunt me forever.

“A car had been washed into our road.

“Our main gate had been bent inwards by the water and ripped off the ground and the driveway bricks and gravel had been ripped from the ground.

“As I ran into the property all I saw was destruction, the neighbour’s walls had collapsed into our property and there was water flowing everywhere.”

Michael added that when he reached their cottage he was waist-deep in water and when he finally got to the area where Toboe was kept it was all submerged in water and water from three different sources was converging into one massive river and hitting their home.

“I frantically searched for Toboe but couldn’t find him.

“My whole world ended, I had let my family down and hadn’t made it in time to save him,” Michael said.

Since then they have been searching far and wide for Toboe, but so far have not had any success.

Toboe is about six years old and has been part of Michael’s life since he was a puppy.

“I’ve lived a full life and travelled the world but nothing compares to my years with Toboe.

“Through thick and thin our dog was always part of it,” Michael said.

Even though they have lost everything, thanks to assistance from various people they have managed to come up with a R7 000 reward for anyone who leads them to Toboe.
