Woman nabbed for selling liquor illegally

During a patrol of the Marathon informal settlement Primrose police arrested a woman allegedly selling liquor without a license.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 24-year-old woman for selling liquor without a licence.

The arrest was made while officers were patrolling the Marathon informal settlement.

“Police were patrolling the area when they noticed a group of people sitting and drinking beer outside a make-shift tavern.

“They entered the place and asked for permission to search the premises,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

During the search they found and seized a number of bottles of alcohol.

When they asked the owner for her liquor licence she was unable to produce one.

She was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where she was held pending her appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
