Wrestlers honoured at prize-giving

The Raptors Wrestling Club, in Primrose East, recently celebrated the end of a good year with their year end prize-giving.

The hard work and dedication of the wrestlers from Raptors Wrestling Club were recently rewarded at the club’s year-end prize-giving.

The club, based in Primrose East, has been training wrestlers for almost 60 years.

This small club, found at the corner of Oak and Quince streets, prides itself on teaching its students about etiquette, self-control, concentration, hand-eye coordination and discipline, through a fun and safe environment.

The coaches also encourage the children to keep active.

Each of the students was presented with a trophy to honour their various achievements, both at local and national competitions, throughout the year.

Four students from the club have also achieved their Gauteng East colours this year, namely, Dewald de Wet (Jnr), Joubert Deale, Wiandru van Rooyen and Stephan Stander.

The members thanked head coach Dewald de Wet and his assistant coaches for all their hard work, the guidance and patience they have given to each student.

If you would like more information on the club you can call de Wet on 083 611 7169, or Hannes van der Merwe on 082 805 7229.
