Bullying focus of police’s school visit

Members of the Primrose police and Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk visited Laerskool Oosterkruin to teach the children about bullying.

Bullying continues to be a problem in many schools, according to the Primrose police.

With this in mind officers from the station and members of Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk recently visited Laerskool Oosterkruin to address bullying at the school.

After a play by the youth desk, Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police, explained to the learners that the police are promoting a safer learning environment for every child which means that they cannot tolerate bullies.

“Each and every child has the right to an education.

“Therefore, a school should be a safe place where they can learn without fear,” said Maome.

Deputy principal Pieter Greyling thanked the police and the youth desk for the wonderful presentation, and hoped the children had learned a lot from it.

The police plan to visit more schools in the area to tackle bullying.
