It has been a busy October for the Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy.

“I am very proud of the academy, we always stand out at competitions,” kancho Alex Tebbutt said.

The club had little time to catch their breath, as they hosted their own tournament a week later.

The tournament, which was held in Brakpan on October 7 and 8, saw over 300 competitors from around the country competing for top honours.

“It was a hugely successful tournament and was smooth sailing from the beginning, which was a welcome surprise,” Tebbutt said.

Fifty members from the academy took part in the event, walking away with 119 medals and trophies, and Tebbutt was thrilled with the performances of the club’s lower graded members.

“The beginners did so well, I am incredibly proud of them,” he said.

He encouraged more people to join the club’s beginners’ classes, which are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
