Good Samaritans make a girl’s big night a fairytale

Every young girl dreams of looking and feeling like a princess at her matric farewell.

Every young girl dreams of looking and feeling like a princess for her matric farewell.

With the generous help of special people, Bridget Gouws reached that fairytale happy ending on Friday, October 14.

She’s a Grade 12 pupil from Afrikaanse HoĆ«rskool Germiston – who’s day it was to be in princess mode.

Some community members posted a request on Facebook to help the girl’s matric ‘crowning glory’ become a reality – and were overwhelmed with the fantastic response received from people in Alberton and the surrounding areas.

“We were sorry we couldn’t make use of all the offers.

“Everyone involved felt privileged to have been part of her day.

“It was wonderful to see how people opened their hearts to help as they could.

“The greatest gift one can give, is to someone who can never repay you for your kindness.

“May God richly bless you,” said Mary-Ann Pretorius, one of the people involved.

A big thank you goes to the following:

Several people came together to offer their services, particularly Charles and Zinnia Smit-Lee; who organised everything. Zinnia is involved in special projects to help others and without her, Bridget’s dream wouldn’t have materialised.

Alta McMaster from the Epic Foundation – who supplied Bridget’s beautiful dress, shoes, handbag, jewellery and perfume – with her Fairy Godmother Project.

Anisa Lawrence from Anisa’s Salon in Mayberry Park; for transforming Bridget into the beautiful princess she was meant to be, with her generous sponsorship of hair, make-up and nails.

Sukie du Toit from Greenfields Guesthouse in Alberante, for opening her beautiful venue for photographs.

Johan Welthagen and Christo Bokhorst for their financial contribution.

Sandra Kieser for organising the photographers, Angelique Bokhorst and Mary-Ann Pretorius (Impression Photography), who took beautiful pics of Bridget and her handsome prince, Juan Bester, who accompanied her to the ball.
