Support for families of drug addicts offered

The Germiston Support Group has opened its doors and is offering free group discussions to families of addicts.

The drug scourge facing South Africa has increasingly and adversely affected all corners of society.

Families are always the first to suffer the negative effects associated with addiction, as addicts draw various members of the family unit into a web of lies and deceit whilst furthering their aims.

Drug addicts are not the only ones that suffer the dire consequences of drug use, as families are drawn into almost every facet of the user’s life.

This can be a dangerous, lonely and daunting place to be, as there is often very little or no recourse to help available for families in dealing with the various negative aspects of alcohol and drug use – including severe financial implications.

The Germiston Support Group cordially invites the families of addicts to share their experiences with people in similar circumstances, by attending free group discussions every Thursday evening at 6.30pm.

The discussions take place at the Church of Christ, situated on the corner of Parnell Street and Mc Kay Avenue in Estera.

Charmaine Piddock and Corinna de Beer are available to facilitate discussions on alcohol and drug abuse, while sharing valuable information about families living with addiction.

For more information, contact Charmaine on 072 683 3614 or Corina on 082 595 2396.
