Studio showcases its talent in top competition

Dancers from Diana Moore Dance World excelled in the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition.

Talented dancers from Diana Moore Dance World recently took part in the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition.

The annual competition, hosted by the studio, was held at Carnival City.

Dancers from across the country participated in the prestigious event and celebrated the 31st year of the competition.

Dancers competed in a variety of disciplines and fantastic prizes, trophies and medals were awarded to the winners.

The local studio’s dancers did extremely well.

Their results are:

  • Shaylin Moore: first in slowdance and second in solo in the jelly tots section.
  • Isabella Rodrigues: second in slowdance and seventh in solo in the tiny tots section.
  • Danika Havenga: fourth in slowdance.
  • Sienna Schutte: second in solo and third in slowdance.
  • Ditheho Phaahla: fourth in slowdance.
  • Nikiwe Mtshali: fifth in slowdance and couples and third in rock ‘n roll.
  • Keagan Jamneck competed in the nine and under hip hop solo and placed sixth.
  • Nicole Venter competed in the 12/13 rising star section and placed fourth in slowdance.
  • Chloe Geyer: competed in the 12/13 rising star section and placed second in slowdance and third in solo.
  • Amy Smith and Dominique Cardosa competed in the rock ‘n roll and freestyle couples section and placed fifth in both categories.
  • Amy Smith competed in the junior bronze Latin-American section and placed fourth.
  • Dominique Cardosa competed in the 14/15 rising star section and placed second in solo and seventh in slowdance.
  • Kaitlyn Booyse competed in the 8/9 rising star section and placed fourth in slowdance and fifth in solo.
  • Justone du Plessis competed in the 16 and over rising star section and placed first for slowdance and solo. He then challenged the championship section boys and came second in both solo and slow.
  • Melissa Hobbs competed in the junior bronze Latin American and placed third.
  • Booklyn Woods competed in the 12/13 rising star section and placed fifth for slowdance.
  • Andrijke van Tonder competed in the 10/11 championship section and placed second for slowdance and sixth for solo.
  • Scarlett Schutte competed in the 8/9 rising star section and placed second for solo and fifth for slowdance in the nine and under championship section.
  • Laylon Saul competed in the 12/13 championship section and placed fifth for solo and sixth for slowdance.
  • Kyhara van der Bank competed in the 16/18 championship section and placed seventh for slowdance.
  • The 11 and under hip hop small group, called Little Divas and made up of Nettie, Inge and Brunhulde le Hanie, Viwe Gila, Isabel Vermaak, Andalaft Horne and Andrijke van Tonder placed second.

The dancers were trained by Ashleigh Moore, Robyn Haddon and Kelly Vilakazi.

Their trainers are all proud of them for the hard work they put in and thrilled with the results achieved.
