Man arrested for August kidnapping and murder

After a month of investigation a man has been arrested in connection with a 40-year-old man’s kidnapping and murder.

Detectives from the Katlehong Police Station recently made a breakthrough in a case of kidnapping and murder, opened in August.

A 53-year-old man was linked to the case, in which a 40-year-old man was kidnapped from his room at Buyafuthi Hostel, in Katlehong.

“According to information received from the family when the kidnapping case was opened, the man was allegedly abducted by men claiming to be police officers,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.

Police were later called to the George Goch informal settlement, where the burnt remains of the 40-year-old were found.

“Police detectives started with the investigation of the kidnapping and murder, which resulted in the arrest of a family member, last Monday,” said Ndobe.

The man was arrested in Soweto.

“Detectives are expecting to make more arrests in this matter,” Ndobe said.

The arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court soon.
