Germiston’s CBD is looking appalling

A local resident says something should be done about the disaster area called a CBD.

Bob Law, Germiston writes:

I recently sent some pictures to my son in Australia, showing the huge gouges and deep crevices in Germiston’s streets and roads, making it impossible for emergency services to get through to crisis areas etc.

Destroyed and dilapidated buildings, rubble strewn across the streets, homeless people, illegal aliens and poverty all around.

“Were these scenes from war-torn Syria, or maybe the aftermath of the Italian earthquake or even the destruction of the Japanese tsunami?” he asked.

“No,” I replied, “It’s the CBD of Germiston.”

Who are the people responsible for this gross lack of planning and foresight?

It’s bad enough to put up with the taxis and other drivers, who ignore the basic rules of the road, or at least the rules of the piece of road you can still drive on, but to be subjected to this kind of mismanagement is totally unacceptable.

The council is spending millions on a new theatre complex (the old library) can I ask how anyone is going to get to it and be able to park anywhere near it?
