Germiston defeated by visitors

The Germiston City Football Club hosted Unaio Desportiva FC for their Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League match on Saturday.

The Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League continued on Saturday, with Germiston City Football Club hosting Unaio Desportiva FC.

The game, played at the Germiston City Sports Club, saw the home side losing 2-1 at the end of a difficult match-up

The Turffontein-based club has enjoyed an impressive season, and is currently in fourth position on the league table, but it was Germiston who seemed to take control of the match in the opening minutes.

The team’s strong attack broke through the opposition’s defence, but was unable to turn these golden opportunities to goals.

Lebogang Chauke and Rafai Thendai had several tries at goal, but it was the visitors who scored the first goal mid-way through the first half, as the Germiston defence was unable hold back the attack.

Germiston seemed frustrated heading into the second half, wildly shooting at the Unaio goal but failing to equalise.

The visitors soon increased their lead to 2-0, keeping a continuous pressure on the home side.

With only five minutes left on the clock, Germiston finally found the back of the net with a prefect kick from Chauke.

The side, however, was unable to score another goal before the sound of the final whistle, making this their first loss in several matches.

Germiston’s reserve side was also defeated by the Unaio Desportiva FC reserve team, losing their afternoon match 1-0.

The side will next host Highlands Park FC, in their ELFA match, on Saturday afternoon.
