Fans invited to be part of this live DVD recording

Local Donald fans can see their idol live on stage at Carnival City.

Fans of the multiple-award winning South African artist, Donald, can be part of his first ever live DVD recording at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena on August 19.

The platinum selling artist presents The Red Mic Xperience (RMX) from 7pm and has promised an evening packed full of surprises for his beloved fans.

Donald has been blazing a trail in the South African music industry since 2007 when he first started performing with band, Muzo, signed by the legendary award-winning Selaelo Selota.

After leaving the group, he performed as a backing vocalist and featured vocalist for artists like Malaika, Zonke, Kwela Tebza, Slikour and many more.

In 2010, he released his first solo album, Simply Donald, which has a decidedly afro jazz feel.

The lead single “Know You Better” quickly became a favourite at his live performances.

In 2011, inspired by his mentor DJ Cleo, Donald formed his own record company D Exclusive Sounds and released his critically acclaimed single “I Deserve”.

The single was followed by his second album Train of Love.

“I Deserve” reached number one on the official EMA charts, as well as on local radio stations.

Follow-up singles like “Denial”, “Your Joy” and “Over the Moon” also reached number one positions, a rarity for a South African artist.

In 2012, he was arguably one of South Africa’s biggest artists, with his song “Over The Moon” the second most downloaded song in the Vodacom music downloads, second after Rihanna’s “Diamonds”.

By 2013, he had made a name for himself as a solo artist and was acknowledged with the Channel O Music Video Award for Best R&B Video for “Crazy But Amazing”, as well as a Metro FM Music Award for Best Styled Artist.

His current album Black & White 2.0 The DJ’s Edition reached gold towards the end of 2015 and is fast approaching platinum status.
