Eagles fail to fly in weekend matches

It was not a good weekend for the lads from the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club.

The youngsters from the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club suffered mainly defeats when they travelled to Nigel on Saturday.

“This weekend was not a good one for the Eagles and we are focusing hard on the small mistakes we made in the games in order to be ready for this weekend’s clash against Bobbies at our home grounds,” said Tyron Smuts, chairman of the club.

“We are urging the community to please bring their children to join us, there are still open spaces in all age groups and we need to fill the gaps.”

The results were as follows:

  • U-7:

Game one: Lost 2-7 against Brakpan.

Game two: Lost 4-9 against Springs.

  • U-8:

Game one: Lost 0-4 against Benoni.

Game two: Won 2-1 against Kempton Park.

  • U-9:

League: Lost 0-57 against Springs.

  • U-10:

League: Lost 0-46 against Springs.

  • U-11:

League: Lost 0-48 against Springs.

  • U-12:

League: Automatic win against Springs.

Social: Lost 0-36 against Suikerbosrand.

  • U-13:

League: Lost 0-45 against Springs.

  • U-15

League: Lost 19-14 against Springs.

  • U-18:

League: Lost 7-73 against Springs.

The matches on Saturday at the Eagles home grounds, the Elspark Sports Grounds, situated at the corner of Heidelberg and Egret roads, Elspark, will kick-off at 7.50am and run until about 5pm.

The community is welcome to come along and show their support for the young Springboks in the making.
