Racers from all over South Africa to take on the 2016 Hotrod World Championships.

Germiston’s adrenaline junkies will be thrilled to know that the 2016 Hotrod World Championships are set to be held at the Rock Raceway circuit in Brakpan on August 13.

Local racer, JP Taljaard, will be racing his V8 sprint car alongside 30-plus other hotrod drivers at the championships.

The venue is going to be a hive of motorsport activity for the annual speed weekend festival.

“Special thanks goes to our new sponsors; Ignition TV, Hoosier Racing Tyre, Royal Purple Synthetic Oils, Kotze Gearbox & Diff, No Jack Vehicle Tracking, Racing Memories, Alberton Auto Paints and PMH Consultants,” said Abie Sada, the marketing manager and commentator at the Rock Raceway.

“Qualifying and practice sessions will take place on Friday, August 12, from 9am to 9pm and will continue to Saturday (August 13) also at 9am with the main event commencing at 4pm.

“You don’t want to miss this event – it is going to be huge.”

Categories also racing on the day include, Super Midgets, Super Saloons, V8 Lexus and Outlaw V8 Sprints.

Competitors from Cape Town, Polokwane, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, among others, will be making their way to come and race in the prestigious event.

There is an entrance fee at the gate.

“Food and refreshments will be on sale at the circuit, so bring your whole family and friends,” said Sada.

“If you thrive on adrenaline then this will be one event you don’t want to miss, rotary fans and V8 fans are in for a treat.”
