Church hosts successful fund-raiser

The AFM New Life Church in Primrose aims to make a difference in Primrose with the money raised at their recent fund-raiser.

The AFM New Life Church, in Primrose, recently hosted a musical fund-raiser at Hoërskool Vryburger High School.

The event was opened with prayer by Pastor Paul du Plessis and a performance by the church’s youth group.

Six local artists, including Ampie Volschenk (aka Tony Knight), Charlotte Stuart, Juan Diederiks, Boet Visagie, Danie and Chrisna Terblanche then took to the stage, entertaining guests with their powerful voices and fun songs.

Visitors also enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by members of the congregation.

The funds raised at the event will be used by the church in its efforts to take care of and to reach out to the Primrose community through several projects.

The projects on which the church is currently working include weekly food hampers distributed to families in need, a feeding scheme held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as providing a local school with lunch packs for underprivileged pupils daily.

They also have youth and elderly outreach programmes.

The church thanked everyone who helped to make the event the success it was, including all the artists, Elize Geyer (photographer), Frans Venter, Sharon Butler, Danie Terblanche, all the volunteers working behind the scenes and Hoërskool Vryburger High School for the use of their hall.
