Scouts collect food for the SPCA

The First Germiston Scouts collected food for the animals at the Germiston SPCA.

The animals at the Germiston SPCA received a much-needed food donation, courtesy of the First Germiston Scouts, last Saturday.

The food collection initiative, which saw the Scouts collecting donations of cat and dog food outside the Spar, in Lambton, last Thursday, was part of Kaitlyn Dabbs’ Scout service project.

Their goal was to collect as much pet food as possible for the Germiston SPCA.

A huge thank you goes to the Spar, as well as the public, for being so generous with their donations.

Dabbs then arranged for both the Scouts and the First Germiston Cubs to visit the SPCA, last Saturday, to hand over the donation, as well as to spend time with the animals.

The children enjoyed their time at the kennels.

The First Germiston Cubs (aged seven to 11) meet every Tuesday, from 5.30pm to 7pm, and the Scouts (aged 11 to 18) meet every Thursday, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, during government school terms.
