Mamba secures its Mandela Day

Love and attention was given to the animals at the Germiston SPCA last Monday, Mandela Day.

Animals at the Germiston SPCA were showered with love by Mamba Security Primrose staff last Monday, July 18, Mandela Day.

“We just wanted to spend time with the animals and show them love for our 67 minutes,” said Edith Vorster, from Mamba Security Primrose.

“It was great to have spent time with the animals today and help feed them. They are very special.”

The team also delivered food, blankets and other items collected prior to the visit (see GCN July 15).

“We thank the community for their donations, your contributions made a huge difference,” said the franchise owner at Mamba Security Primrose, Elaine Griffin.

“The biggest donation came from CPM, a company in Sunnyrock. We really appreciate it.”

SPCA management welcomed the visit.

“It was awesome having the team here. They also got to play with the dogs because they need the love, and they love it when they see new faces and get fed their little biscuits,” said the Germiston SPCA treasurer, Cathy Valente-Parkinson.

“It makes us glad and happy to see the involvement from the community, and the more help we get the more animals we can help.”

Griffin said that spending time with the dogs and helping at the SPCA will not end with the Mandela Day visit.

“We heard that the SPCA is in need of dog food, among other things, which is why we started a project where we will collect blankets, dog and cat food and other items and take it to the SPCA every month,” she said.

“We have prepared a wheelie bin, at our offices, where the donations can be dropped off at the SPCA every month,” said Vorster.

“We will also try to get a team from Mamba to come and help the staff at the SPCA with cleaning the kennels, feeding and anything else they need help with.”

The staff of the local security company were accompanied by friends and family.

“We had friends, family, community members and members of the Red Bin Brigade join in our initiative,” said Griffin.

“The Red Bin Brigade is a Section 21, non-profit organisation, made up of a group of the elderly members of our community who assist Mamba with projects, among other things.”

Griffin also said that people interested in donating are not limited to the items mentioned.

“Any donation is welcome. It will be greatly appreciated,” she explained.

“The donations can be dropped off at Mamba Security Primrose, situated on 25 Main Road, Fishers’ Hill.

“You can bring your donations any time between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday.”
