Local company encourages the youth

Local company Interwaste Environmental Solutions is aiming to make a difference in the lives of the community of Dukathole.

In 2013, local company Interwaste Environmental Solutions made the decision to help the youth of Dukathole.

They partnered with the Germiston SAPS and together they began taking young members of the community and helping them get their code 10 or 14 licences.

“I have never seen a company with such a passion to help their local community,” said Sgt Olga Masethla, from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster stations.

The programme has since developed and now the company is offering six-week ABET courses to empower the community’s youth.

The programme currently has 52 students.

“The company plans to run the six-week course until 2017,” explained Masethla.

In addition to their youth programmes the company continues to sponsor the Help Mekaar Older People projects which started in 2004.
