Colder temperatures mean more power cuts, metro increases staff to help

An increase in the use of heating sources will result in power outages, says metro.

The increased demand for heating sources to keep warm as the winter temperatures drop is placing pressure on the electricity network.

The metro has increased the number of personnel on standby to timeously attend to the supply failures that are mainly caused by the high power demand during cold periods.

The additional personnel will be on standby throughout the winter season to ensure a timeous response to supply interruptions.

Customers are encouraged to log any service interruptions through the municipal call centre on 086 054 3000 and ensure they receive a reference number for follow-up purposes.
