Germiston defeat Kempton

Germiston City Football Club defeated Kempton Football Club, the side’s first home win in the Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) super league.

Germiston City Football Club’s Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) super league campaign heated up with the side’s first home win.

The club took on Kempton Park FC, on Saturday afternoon, at the Germiston City Sports Club and won the match 4-3.

The game started with Kempton in control, and the visitors put continued pressure on the home side with ten minutes of constant attack.

All the home side could do was rely on a strong defence and wait for the opportunity to launch their counter-attack.

The opportunity came with Germiston striker Chinadu Ekwemmuo streaking towards the Kempton goals where he narrowly missed his mark, shooting over the posts.

Kempton came back fighting and a mistake by Germiston captain Scotty Chando gave, recently signed, keeper Jose Castel no chance to defend, allowing Kempton to score their first goal of the match.

Germiston did not allow this upset to derail them and a good run down the right flank and a cross by Lebogang Chokoe allowed Lucky Mothobi to score his first goal for the team.

Kempton was able to score a second goal by half-time leaving the score 1-2 heading into the second half.

After the break Germiston came back fighting and with some clinical passing between Piso Muso and Lebogang Chokoe the team was able to level the score, this was soon followed by yet another goal for the side by Chendu Ekwemmuo.

Only a few minutes later Chokoe managed to score Germiston’s fourth, and final, goal of the match.

The successful start to the second half seemed to make the Germiston side take a back seat in their defence and Kempton seized the opportunity to score another goal.

The team, however, did not let this happen again and were declared the winners at the final whistle.

The Germiston reserve side drew their match against the Kempton FC reserve side 0-0.

While Germiston’s third team defeated Benoni Northern’ s to place them second in the third division behind Olympia Italian Club.
