Tekkie Tax laces galore
Tekkie Tax Day was celebrated nationally on Friday with community members and businesses showing their support.
Tekkie Tax Day hit South Africa on Friday.
People from all walks of like were encouraged to support this worthy cause by either buying and wearing a T-shirt, shoe laces and/or sticker on the day.
You could show your support for either animals, bring hope, children, people with disabilities or education, or more than one.
The GCN team showed their support on the day by teaming up with Child Welfare Germiston in their National Tekkie Tax Day campaign, and encouraged the community to get involved.
Local company, Fry’s Metals, a lead recycling business in Wadeville, heeded the call and supported the cause with the purchase of 180 Tekkie Tax shoe laces and stickers.
Several staff members at the Germiston Medi-Cross were also involved, sporting their green Tekkie Tax Day T-shirts and shoe laces.
Barbara Bouwer, the director of Germiston Child Welfare, was overwhelmed by the support shown by the community and local business and thanked everyone for their contributions.
