Water leak repaired after month-long wait

The metro reportedly repaired a leak in Plain Street a month after it was first reported.

A water leak in Plain Street, in Elsburg, was finally fixed after being reported over a month earlier.

This despite residents claims that the metro promised to send out technicians on the same day the leak was reported, in March.

A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, called the GCN after several calls to the metro.

“I was told twice that someone would be out to fix the leak within hours and still no one has arrived,” he said.

The GCN contacted the metro to find out why technicians did not report to the scene after the residents were told that the matter would be dealt with on the same day the complaint was logged.

Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe, did not explain why the technicians had taken so long to respond to the problem.

He simply stated that the leak had been repaired.
