Road still a mess

The residents of Estera still have no answers as to when Baker Road will be repaired.

In May 2015, the metro dug up Baker Road, in Estera, to repair a water leak.

However, in the months that have followed the water has started to leak again and the road has never been fully repaired.

The residents in the area are now desperate to have the leak fixed and the road repaired and restored.

The GCN again contacted the metro with regard to Baker Road, for comment from them as to when the residents can expect the leak and road to be repaired.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, responded: “The reported water leak in Estera was due to the pipe’s sensitivity to pressure and soil changing conditions and has been repaired.

“Water leaks are usually repaired within three days from the day they are reported, however, the repair works were slightly delayed due to the number of burst pipes attended to in the vicinity.”

No mention was made of when the road would be restored.
