Primrose pothole continues to grow

It is still unclear when the pothole at the corner of Zero and Ceres streets in Primrose will be repaired by the metro.

Residents of Primrose have taken it upon themselves to barricade a large pothole at the corner of  before more vehicles are damaged.

The GCN was told by one resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, that he first reported the pothole in January, after he had damaged his car.

“Despite numerous calls to the metro from several community members nothing has been done and the pothole continues to get bigger and bigger,” he said.

The resident believes that the metro should pay for the damages to his vehicle.

The GCN contacted the metro to get comment on when the pothole will be repaired and if they are in fact liable for the damages to the vehicle.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, said: “The complainant can lodge a claim from the metro’s insurance.

“General liability claim forms and potholes claim forms can be obtained at the metro’s insurance section, on the ground floor at the Sanburn Building, 68 Woburn Avenue, Benoni.”

Residents can call the metro’s insurance department on 011 999-6550 or 011 999-6547 for more information.

“Residents are notified that submission of a claim does not automatically imply that the claim will be settled,” he added.

No mention was made by the metro of when the pothole would be repaired.
