Pensioner’s ears, nose cut off in brutal murder

A Delville woman was murdered on Thursday in her home.

A Delville family is reeling after the brutal murder of a family member on Thursday.

The 72-year-woman was stabbed in the stomach and neck and had both her ears and her nose cut off.

Capt Geroge Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS, said: “The woman’s granddaughter and grandson-in-law left the house at about 8am to go to work and when the grandson-in-law returned at about 3pm they found her dead.

“It is suspected that the man who they had employed to do work in their home and garden is the murderer as he has subsequently disappeared.”

As the woman was found half naked the police are also investigating the possibility of her being raped.

Raphulu said that it appears nothing had been taken from the house and the motive for the murder was unknown.

No arrests have been made as yet and police continue with their investigation.
