Metro is taking note of Makause memorandum

Metro commends community for not disrupting voter registration.

After the community of the Makause informal settlement marched to the Germiston Civic Centre to deliver a memorandum to the mayor regarding housing and service delivery on Tuesday, the metro gave this response.

Zweli Dlamini, mayoral spokesman, said, “The community of the area must be commended for actually following due process in staging this protest.

“They must also be commended for not using this action to disrupt the voter registration process at the weekend like we saw in some areas.

“Indeed we have received their memorandum in which they have given us a period within which to respond.

“We shall be taking the letter through our own processes and will get back to them within the stipulated period.

“Pertinent service delivery matters were raised by the community and luckily some of the issues were already receiving attention.

“We shall be reconciling our facts about the future of the area and prepare a report that we will share with the protesters in the near future.”
