Police hunt for alleged rapists, murderers

A manhunt has been launched for three men after a rape, murder and house robbery in Rondebult.

The Elsburg SAPS are still searching for three men, wanted in connection with a murder, rape and house robbery.

The crime took place at 12.01am on December 21, last year, in Cucumber Street, Rondebult.

Members of the Elsburg Sector Three police, while on patrol in the area, received a complaint of a house robbery in progress at this address, at about 1.15am.

They rushed to the scene and found a woman who informed them that four unknown men had raped her and her sister and that her sister was still lying on the a bed in the house.

“The suspects ran away after performing their evil deeds,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“They made off with a plasma TV and two cellphones.”

When the officers went into the house to investigate they found a woman lying on a bed with an open wound on her upper body and her face covered with cloth.

“The woman was certified dead by paramedics and the other rape victim was taken to hospital for further medical attention,” said Phooko.

The police continued with their investigation and tracked down and arrested a suspect.

He appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court on charges of murder, rape and house robbery and is currently being detained in the Boksburg Prison, where the victim has identified him.

The other three men are still at large.

An identikit of one of the men has been compiled.

He spoke Southern Sotho.
