Taking a stand against drugs, alcohol abuse

Tsohang Youth Organisation continues its fight against drugs and alcohol abuse.

The Tsohang Youth Organisation, based in Katlehong, has been in existence since 2005.

The youth organisation prides itself on continually holding events where it brings together the community, the youth, scholars and churches in its quest to educate and give motivational talks.

The main objective of the events is to eradicate drug and alcohol abuse among the youth in Katlehong and its surrounding areas.

In conjunction with the Take Care and MAD Generation Youth organisations, Tsohang Youth Organisation recently hosted an event at the Palm Ridge Substance Abuse Clinic.

EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit members, as well as the EMPD choir, were also in attendance at the event.

The organisation’s director, Moses Gama, gave a talk on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, as well as on the unacceptable behaviour of those using drugs.

He further emphasised the advantages of the youth regularly engaging in activities that are beneficial to them and the communities in which they live.

The youth and church leaders were granted an opportunity to engage and to come up with strategies aimed at eradicating the scourge of drug and alcohol abuse among the Palm Ridge and Katlehong communities.

The EMPD choir ensured that there were no dull moments, by entertaining the attendees at the function.
