During the first week of the month, February 1 to 7, the Primrose police arrested 33 suspects.
The accused were arrested for various crimes including:
- Common assault: 2
- Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 2
- Possession of an unlicensed firearm: 1
- Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
- Possession of housebreaking implements: 1
- Murder: 2
- Attempted murder: 1
- Driving under the influence of alcohol: 3
- Contempt of court: 1
- Warrant of arrest: 2
- Theft: 4
- Possession of drugs: 1
- Illegal immigrants: 12
The Primrose SAPS station commander, Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi, thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.
Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
The illegal immigrants will be sent to Lindela, for deportation.
