Men nabbed in Beaconsfield Avenue

Suspects linked to additional crimes after their arrest.

During a routine patrol in Beaconsfield Avenue CPF patrollers nabbed two men allegedly in a near-by yard.

“The patrollers headed to the home to investigate, after receiving a complaint from a resident, it is there they allegedly found the two men,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

It is alleged that one of the accused pointed a firearm at the approaching patrollers.

“The patrollers were able to overpower the accused and arrested them,” said Maome.

In addition to the firearm, which was discovered to be unlicensed, the patrollers found a bag containing two cellphones, two watches, two wallets and a Taiwanese passport.

The men were handed over to the Primrose police.

Officers later linked the suspects to a case of armed robbery in Bedfordview.

Acting station commander for the Primrose Police Station Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi thanked the community patrollers for their assistance in this case.

The men, aged 23 and 29 respectively, appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where the case has been postponed for further investigation.

The suspects remain in custody.
